The Medieval Château

Medieval remains

créneau de la Tour d'entrée

Archives reveal that a wooden fortress was present on the site in the eleventh century.

This early fortress has completely disappeared.  The oldest remaining sections of the château are the entrance tower, the south 'medieval' wing, and the ramparts.

Dated precisely to 1334, these three sections constitute the medieval vestiges of Gizeux.
